Certain Walls require expansion gaps to be placed at set distances. In Autodesk Revit, we can easily and quickly add the required gaps by using reference planes and the split commands.
On the Architecture tab, Work Plane group, left-click the Ref Plane button:

Draw a single Ref Plane at the start of the wall as per the image below, and then exit the command.

Left-click the Ref Plane to select it, and on the Modify tab, left-click and select the Array command.

On the Options bar, set the Number to something sensible, such as 5, and set the Move to 2nd. Then, in the view, left-click on an empty spot and move your mouse in the desired direction by the distance required for each expansion gap, in this case 6000mm, and then left click again to confirm.

With the ref planes placed, clear any selections and on the Modify tab, left-click the Split with Gap command.

In the Options bar, set the Gap to the desired size, in this case 20mm. Then left-click on each Ref Plane until all the expansion gaps have been added. You may not delete the Ref Planes if no longer required.
