Revit contains several lesser-known or ‘strange’ functions that can be incredibly powerful for boosting productivity and control over your BIM models.
Do you know about Search in Type Selector? Let’s take a look.
- Open Revit and start a new project or open an existing project.
- In the Architecture tab on the ribbon, select the Wall tool.

- On the Properties dialog box, look for the Search as shown below:

- Type in the search bar the word Stack, and you will notice all walls matching this type will be displayed, allowing you to quickly find and select the type you want. This eliminates having to scroll up or down a long list of wall types that you are looking for.

- Once you have used this wall type, it will default for the next time you place a wall.
- You can also see at the bottom of the list, Most Recently Used Types.

This search function can be found in other tools such as (but not limited to): Components, Doors, Windows etc. This can save you significant time in large projects.
