The 2026 release of Autodesk InfoDrainage delivers the largest one-year leap since the platform launched. Autodesk has provided a mass of new features into a single release, that targets three pressures on UK design teams: approval speed, hydraulic depth and connected data. This blog shows how each headline feature answer those pressures and why the result matters for planning officers, contractors and financiers alike.
Simulation and Quality Assurance
- Simulation Health Reporting 2.0 now assigns red, amber or green status to each run which groups continuity errors by node and lets you jump straight to the storm that failed. Autodesk test models show a 30% cut in troubleshooting time.
- Clash Detection Analysis scans the long section in real-time and flags any pipe to pipe or pipe to structure intersection. Designers fix conflicts before the file leaves the office rather than during excavation.
- HEC 22 inlet analysis adds inlet capacity checks for grate kerb and combination units using the Federal Highway method. You enter gutter geometry and blockage allowance, and the solver computes capture flow and bypass automatically.

- Hydraulic Grad Line and Energy Grade Line plotting now drops directly onto the long section, proving freeboard and head loss in one view.

- FHWA Culvert Analysis introduces 57 predefined barrel and entrance shapes so highway culverts can be sized without exporting to separate tools.

- Land use and soil type polygons bring sub-catchment runoff coefficients in line with real ground conditions. Urban clay and rural loam can sit inside the same model and the rainfall to runoff conversion respect each soil layer.

- Desbordes rainfall extension stretches storm durations to 14 days which satisfies French departmental guidance and lets UK coastal schemes test long duration winter fronts without external spreadsheets.
Reporting and Evidence
- Flexible reporting has moved from static PDF to true pivot table. Inputs calculated fields and results can be ordered, filtered and saved as template then exported straight to an LLFA checklist, or an ESG metric sheet.
- Part family awareness improves Civil 3D mapping. Pipe and structure families are exported with their names and metadata intact so review drawings match hydraulic objects exactly.
Workflow Connectivity
- Civil 3D integration is now two way and loss free. Catchments break lines and parts lists pass into InfoDrainage for analysis then return to Civil 3D with results annotated to plan.

- Cloud analysis pushes drainage, manhole and network analysis runs to Autodesk data centres in Dublin and Amsterdam, therefore analysis for heavy storms are completed in the background while workstations remain available for other work.

- Backwards compatibility means a file saved in version 2026 opens in InfoDrainage 2025 and Civil 3D 2025 without any conversion step which improves operability between deign teams.
Why this matters for UK Projects
- Planning Pressure – Schedule 3 SuDS rules and tighter LLFA scrutiny demand deeper evidence in fewer iterations. Simulation Health, inlet checks and HGL plotting deliver that evidence.
- Cost Pressure – Inflation leaves little room for site rework. Clash detection and culvert analysis catch clashes and undersized crossings before tender.
- Finance Pressure – Green recovery funding and private EDG bons look for transparent data. Flexible reporting and cloud dashboards stream that data live.
InfoDrainage 2026 turns drainage design into a closed loop process where every stage from concept to audit runs on verifiable numbers stored in one model. InfoDrainage 2026 turns drainage design into a closed loop process where every stage from concept to audit runs on verifiable numbers stored in one model. The software moves drainage from statutory cost to strategic asset and does so with every feature Autodesk promised for this release.
