AutoCAD 2026 continues Autodesk’s mission to streamline drafting workflows and reduce the time that designers spend on routine tasks. Among the standout improvements are enhancements to the Quick Measure tool. This feature can significantly improve productivity. In this blog, we’ll explore how this tool works.
The Quick Measure tool is designed to give you real-time feedback about distances, angles and dimensions as you move your cursor around a drawing. Instead of manually placing dimensions lines or running multiple commands, Quick Measure delivers instant information visually and interactively.
- Open a new drawing.
- Place 3 rectangles:
- 1000mm x 1000mm
- 2000mm x 2000mm
- 3000mm x 3000mm
- Offset to the outside of each rectangle with a value of 110mm.
- Do not add the annotation. In red, I have added this only for you to see the example of the geometry placed.

- Under the Home tab on the ribbon, select the Measure dropdown to activate the Quick Measure tool.

- Hover over the internal area of the small rectangle and you will see the dimensions displayed.

- Move your cursor and hover over the other rectangles to see the values.

- Move and hover your cursor between one of the offset areas.

- Position your cursor between two rectangles.

By integrating Quick Measure into your daily workflow, you’ll save time, reduce errors and ensure your designs stay precise and on track. So, embrace this powerful tool and see how AutoCAD continues to make your design work more intuitive, fluid and productive.
