With recent updates to Windows, many users are now facing an error upon launching AutoCAD Electrical 2024; ‘Install the latest 64-bit version of Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 to use the Catalog Browser’.
Autodesk have recently provided a hotfix for 2024 to resolve this. In the 2025 and 2026 release, this is also resolved in the latest updates.
First, ensure the latest updates for AutoCAD and Electrical are installed, then download and extract the zip folder (Please ensure the zip file is unlocked within properties before extracting). Once complete, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the folder where your Autodesk product is installed, by default this is “C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2024\Acade\”
- Right-click AceLoader.dll and AceDriverTest.exe in the folder mentioned in the above path and rename them AceLoader.bak and AceDriverTest.bak respectively. Essentially, we’re creating a backup if we ever need to revert to the original files.
- From the extracted folder, copy the AceLoader.dll and AceDriverTest.exe to the install path mentioned above.
