The management portal has constant updates and the latest update changes the way users are assigned licenses.
When assigning license, we assign a seat of a license from a pool. All licenses of the same type, and within the same team, are group together to form a pool. When viewing products within the portal, you’ll see the total seats and the remaining available seats that can be assigned. In the screenshot below, we have 6 seats available to assign to users.
Note, we cannot assign more users than available seats.

Going forwards, Autodesk now provide two methos of assigning licenses; by Pool or by Subscription ID.
This new features grants admins the ability to assign users directly to a subscription containing one or multiple licenses. This comes in handy when you own multiple subscriptions with different expiry dates, and providing insights on which users would lose access should licenses drop.

These changes allow us to filter with more detail, whether that is:
- Assigned via Pool or Subscription
- Is the license expires soon, is expired, over-assigned or starting in the future
- by Subscription ID
An important point to remember is that assigning via Pool hasn’t changed and is still default. Autodesk do not provide the ability to assign more users than total seats available (the same as multi-user licenses back in the day).
