Autodesk Fusion Update September 2025

The Fusion September 2025 update is out now, and with it comes some much anticipated functionality. The headliner for this release is Parametric Text!

Parametric Text

The ability to parametrically control text is huge! Not only can we have reusable text locations in our models, this also allows us to reference parametric dimensions in text without our models.

Text Type Parameters

The first part of this functionality is the ability to use Text as a type in the Parameters, this can contain any string of text. It can be used as reference in a text field, or on drawings later in the design process.

Parameters in Text

Parametric Text is now available to use in Text fields. This could be used to write live Heights, Widths of Length values, or insert the newly introduced Text parameters.

To combine text and parameters, you will need to enclose your text in apostrophes (‘), then add parameters with a plus (+). You can then string together any combination of text and parameters.

Configured Parametric Text

Parametric text is fully supported within Configurations on release, where each variation can have a different value for the text parameters. Along with the usual variations of materials, dimensions and optional features. This allows for further customisation of models going forward.

Spacebar to Repeat

Most CAD programs have the ability to tap a single key to repeat the last command, speeding up repetitive tasks. Going forward, Fusion will reserve the spacebar as a shortcut for repeat, meaning a simple tap of the space bar will restart the last tool you had active.

Custom Sizes for Fastener Library

The fastener library is continually expanding, adding 71 new standards in this release alone, including 32 bolts/screws, 26 nuts, 6 rivet nuts and 7 washers.

Along with the continuous expansion of the Fasteners library, a big user request has been the ability to create custom sizes of these fasteners. With this release we are able to create custom variations of standard fasteners. These will then be added to the library for future use and can be deleted later is needed. This is found at the bottom of each respective dropdown.

Material Search

There is also now the ability to search within the Material and Appearance libraries. This is another great improvement, as finding the right material can often consume a lot of time. The search bar is now found at the top of the material or appearance list.

Drawing Attributes

A bigger change for the drawing administrators, is Attributes in the Title Block are now broken into Types for easier allocation. This should hopefully create a framework for more properties in future. These are accessed within the Title Block editor, by adding an Attribute from the Create panel.

Drawing

Drawing properties contain anything related to the drawing. Depending on the Drawing Standard selected, you will either see Drawn By and Drawn Date, or Created By and Created Date.

General

In the General dropdown, the Project Name property has changed to Project Folder, which should give more clarity on the source of the value.

Manage

The Manage Type contains all properties which would be controlled by the Manage Extension.

Physical

Mass is the only physical property in the list. Hopefully with future updates we will begin to see this list expand.
