Autodesk Vault 2027 New Feature – Autodesk Assistant

Autodesk continues to push productivity and automation forward with the release of Autodesk Vault 2027, and one of the most significant additions in this year’s update is the introduction of Autodesk Assistant.

Currently available as a Tech Preview, Autodesk Assistant introduces AI-powered support, directly inside of Autodesk Vault. Rather than switching between help articles, internal documentation, or asking colleagues for guidance, users can now interact with Vault using natural language to get answers, find data, and complete tasks more efficiently.

For businesses managing large volumes of design data, this could become a major step forward in day-to-day productivity.

What is Autodesk Assistant in Autodesk Vault?

Autodesk Assistant is built directly into the Vault environment and is designed to help users work faster by providing intelligent, in-context assistance. Autodesk are focusing on 3 key areas with this:

  • The first is product help and guidance. Users can ask questions such as how to use Copy Design, how to change lifecycle states, or how to manage permissions, and receive immediate answer without leaving Autodesk Vault.
  • The second is smarter search. Instead of relying on exact files names, property filters, or manually building complex searches, users can ask everyday language questions to locate information quickly.
  • The thirds is task execution. Autodesk Assistant can help automate repetitive actions and streamline common workflows through simple prompts, like ‘Create Items for this assembly and associated files‘. (It’s interesting they chose this example to share, given the requirement of Vault Items for native synchronisation with Fusion manage PLM).

This makes Autodesk Vault feel less like a static data management system, and more like an intelligent workspace.

Search has always been one of the most important parts of any PDM (product data management) system.

Autodesk assistant improves this by allowing users to search in a more conversational way. This means users may no longer need to remember exact conventions or property structures to find what they need.

For organisations with large Vault environments, this could save significant time when locating outdated documents, incomplete records or project-specific files.

Early Potential for Workflow Automation

One of the most exciting parts of Autodesk Assistant is its potential to reduce repetitive manual tasks. Autodesk has shown examples of prompts such as updating outdated drawings, creating Items or synchronising assemblies to Autodesk Fusion Manage.

If this develops further beyond the Technology preview phase, it could help businesses automate many of the smaller admin-heavy tasks that slow engineering teams down.

At Man and Machine, we often help customers improve workflows within Autodesk Vault through lifecycle management, custom job automation, and scripting. Autodesk Assistant appears to align well with that wider move towards smarter connected processes.

A Strong Starts for Autodesk Vault 2027

Autodesk Assistant is one of the headline features in Autodesk Vault 2027 and shows Autodesk’s direction of travel towards more intelligent, AI-assisted engineering workflows. While it is still in Technology Preview and likely to evolve over time, the early capabilities look very promising.
