Working with Captured Metrics in Fusion Operations

With all the data inputs continuously being captured by Fusion Operations, there is a treasure trove of metrics being generated. While this can be visualised in Fusion Operations with the creation of dashboards, in a lot of cases these metrics are required by other departments. This is possible through either report outputs or tapping into the API.

Excel and PDF Output

PDF and Excel outputs can be created on any report generated by Fusion Operations. This is generally available across most workspaces including Production Orders, Inventory, Machine worktimes and Costing, to name a few.

Once a report has been generated, there will be an option to output a PDF or Excel. This will create a download link which will be added to a dedicated ‘Recent Exports’ section.

Fusion Operations API

In addition to the report outputs available from Fusion Operations, there is the ability to tap into the API which allows for the consumption of data from the tenant. This required an API Client and Secret. The data available through the API includes Production Orders, Purchase Orders, Product Information and a range of other background datasets. More information about the API can be found on the following link: https://fusionoperations.autodesk.com/api-documentation

Using access to this API unlocks a range of possibilities, whether it is using a Data Query in Excel or Power BI, or using the outputs to create a custom HTML dashboard.

Excel

Fusion Operations’ default Purchase Order format is very simplified, as such we have encountered scenarios where this requires customisation. This can be done by creating a custom template in Excel and mapping the appropriate fields using the reporting functionality, or API.

Power BI

Using both the Report outputs and API allow for the creation of fully customised Power BI Dashboards. This could include overviews of Production, Worker Views, Machine Views, and Company Evolution graphs.

HTML

Using the JSON output from Fusion Operations API, completely custom dashboards are possible in HTML. Whether this is showing a live view of all machines or operations, a colour coded view of all production orders, or live status on sales orders and shipping’s.
