In many cases users that have started in the Autodesk ecosystem started with AutoCAD and have either transformed to Inventor or use a combination of both platforms. The frustrating element working between these platforms is the middle wheel mouse behaviour are opposite to each other. You can set this to behave in the same way.
Follow the below steps to change the behaviour of the middle mouse wheel in Inventor to work the same as AutoCAD default.
- Open Inventor. On the ribbon under File, select Application Options.

- In the dialog box, go to the Display tab.
- Under 3D Navigation > Zoom Behaviour, tick the checkbox to activate Reverse Direction.

- The middle wheel direction will now be the same as AutoCAD.
To change the behaviour of the middle mouse wheel in AutoCAD to work the same as Inventor default:
- In AutoCAD type ZOOMWHEEL in the command line.
- Set the variable to 1, this will reverse the direction.
Making this change can greatly improve your cross-platform workflow, providing smoother zooming behaviour and eliminating a major source of frustration.
