Autodesk Construction Cloud – Autodesk Docs Search Functionality

In today’s fast-paced construction environment, access to the right information at the right time can make or break a project. Autodesk Docs, in the Autodesk Construction Cloud, is more than just a digital document repository. It’s a centralised hub where project teams can collaborate, control and streamline document workflows. One of the most powerful yet often underutilised tool within Autodesk Docs is its search functionality. In this post, we’ll show you how to use the search features in Docs to quickly allocate drawings.

It’s worth noting that this functionality extends beyond drawings, you can also use it to find models, specs, RFIs and other key project documents, as well as specific content within those documents.

Lets take a close look at how to quickly locate drawings.

  • In Autodesk Docs, open a project you are working on that contains information.
  • Click on the Files tool on the left of your screen then click on Search and Filter to the top right of the screen.
  • In the search criteria dialog box, test different words in the search bar to find a file within your project. You can expand this search to current folder or all folders in the project, as well as subfolders and content. You can further filter by selecting files or folders and specific file types.
  • Further to this, when you click in the search area you can go to more tips, then search using Boolean operators, Wildcard or Special characters.
  • To save time for potential future use of this search criteria, click Save Search at the bottom right of the search box. This option will only become active once you’re entered search criteria.
  • Once the search has been saved, at the top right of the search box, select Saved Searches. You have Private (only you will see these) and you have Shared where you can save share saved searches to the team, or see saved searches that your team have shared with you.
  • To share your saves search, select the 3 dots next to the named search and select share.
  • You can share to everyone in the project or to a member, role or company.
