Autodesk Vault 2027 continues to bring practical workflow improvements for engineering teams, and one feature that will be welcomed by many businesses it automatic PDF Attachment to Items.
With increased uptake in Autodesk Fusion Manage PLM – an increasing number of customers are using Vault Items to integrate their CAD data into PLM. However, items are still used by many organisations to manage associated data and BOMs.
Supporting documentation is critical. PDF drawings are often relied upon by manufacturing, purchasing, project managers and suppliers who need quick access to the latest approved information, without opening native CAD files.
In previous versions of Autodesk Vault, PDF creation could be automated through lifecycle changes and the Job Processor, but attaching those PDFs to the corresponding Item often requires additional manual steps or customisation.
In Vault 2027, Autodesk have simplified this process. Vault generated PDFs can now be automatically attached during the Assign Item or Update Item process, alongside files such as DWG and IDW.
This helps ensure items are more complete from the outset, and for many customers, automating PDF creation is a welcomed introduction to remove the manual step of adding them to items.
A small feature with real value!
Automatic PDF Attachment to Items may be a relatively small addition in Autodesk Vault 2027, but it shows Autodesk is paying attention to current and upcoming requirements of customers using Items to integrated with Fusion Manage PLM.
