With Autodesk’s transition to Named User licensing every individual user of the software will need to have an Autodesk account in their name. This makes license management a lot easier than finding a computer name and tracking generic serial numbers across your company. However, this has left a gap for individuals who previously had temporary access to software through a Multi-User or Network License. Autodesk flex fills this void by allowing daily access to each named user for individual products. Allowing short term access for project critical jobs.

Who is Autodesk Flex for?

Those who need frequent access to their software, but not enough to warrant a full license. The break even point works out to be about 7 days a month, any more than that it would be more beneficial getting a subscription to the software. Using flex will give you access to a product for a 24-hour period, starting from the moment you open the software.

How to Activate Flex

License Administrators can purchase Flex Tokens from their resellers, these are available in bundles of 500, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000. Once purchased, you can assign this to your team members in the same way as they would for Subscriptions. Administrators can then select the products each user is able to use Tokens on.

Once the tokens have been assigned, users can access their products using Tokens rather than a subscription.

How Many Tokens Would I need?

The amount you pay depends on the product you would like to use, this ranges from 2 Tokens a day for Fusion 360 or 7 a day for AutoCAD, to 8 for Inventor Pro and 10 for Revit. You can find a list of all the products currently using Autodesk Flex on the link below.
